Yas Links Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s newest golf course, will launch the first PowerPlay Golf® Weekend Series in the UAE capital on June 24, 2011.
 
As one of the Middle East’s three official PowerPlay Golf venues, which include also Abu Dhabi Golf & Equestrian Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, Yas Links will host Abu Dhabi’s inaugural PowerPlay Golf® Weekend Series that will take place between June 24-25 and September 23-24, 2011.
 
The dates of the tournaments at Yas Links Abu Dhabi are (Fridays and Saturdays in all cases):
 
·       June 24-25·       July 22-23
·       August 26-27·       September 23-24
 
Chris White, General Manager of developer Aldar Properties (Golf Division), said: “The new PowerPlay Golf® game, which was officially inaugurated at The Celtic Manor last month in an event won by Caroline Hedwall, is an ideal competition format for golfers here in Abu Dhabi, especially during the summer months when the heat doesn’t favour longer, 18-hole competitions.
 
“I believe the new 9-hole, Stableford points system game will prove very popular in the Middle East,” Chris White continued. “The new PowerPlay Golf® format is ideal for those with busy lifestyles or golfers not associated with a local club but who still want to compete on a regular basis – so it fits well with our UAE golfers.”
 
He added: “The 2011 weekend series at Yas Links is open to everyone and offers local golfers a new opportunity to test their skills in a fun and friendly team competition.”
 
The 2011 PowerPlay Golf® Weekend Series at Yas Links will be presented in collaboration with the Yas Island-located Radisson Blu Hotel Abu Dhabi, Yas Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, Yas Island Rotana Abu Dhabi and The Yas Hotel.
